3rd St Coffeehouse Live Stream - Kat Mills w/ guest Mike Franke

Facebook Live, Roanoke VA

At 7:30 PM EST, we welcome to our LiveStream Stage house favorite and acoustic blues specialist, Mike Franke. Mike is one of most prolific songwriters in Southwest Virginia and brings all his experience to his songs and to the stage. His unique brand of message-infused blues and Americana ranges from humorous to edgy, silly to profound. His relaxed stage presence and ability to connect with the audience leaves everyone smiling, feeling, thinking, and humming along. Think: John Prine, Chris Smither, Steve Earle, or Tom Rush. Expect Mike to slip a slide on his finger, too. Check him out at https://mikefrankemusic.com/.

At 8:00 PM EST, we welcome back to our LiveStream Stage house favorite Kat Mills from Blacksburg, VA! Kat is about the closest thing to Joan Baez this writer has ever seen and her performances are absolutely magical (my words, not hers – can you tell I’m a fan?). She is a writer, singer, guitarist and seeker rooted in GenX habits, nodding to 60s and 70s troubadour traditions, and openly commenting on the aches and triumphs of the moment. She was a finalist in the 2015 NewSong/LEAF Singer-Songwriter Competition, has had original song placements in film and podcasts, and appears as a back-up vocalist for other artists. Check her out at http://www.katmills.com/.

Now in our 34th year, 3rd Street Coffeehouse is a non-profit listening room run by volunteers and never has a cover charge. In March of 2020, we switch from of usual brick and mortar venue underneath Trinity UMC in Roanoke to a virtual live-streaming platform. Instead of passing the hat, we ask that you support our musicians by contributing to the virtual hat, which will be identified during the performance. This will greatly help them continue their music and help support their livelihood as performing artists. We thank you in advance!
